In the Hebei Province, the restorations of the Great Wall were more of a disaster than a success. Indeed, the restorers only sealed the crumbling walls with lime, which altered its original nature. Fortunately, in most of the region, the workers took their work at heart. Certain sections of the Great Wall were identically rebuilt. Because of the exiguity of the spot and the lack of means, the old techniques are still in use. The scaffolds are made of wood and the bags to carry the stones are made of leather and wood.
