Hundreds of thousands of people go and visit the Great Wall every year. This flourishing economy allows the Great Wall to live on, but nevertheless damages it. All the tourist-tours include the visit of Beijing and the surrounding parts of the Great Wall. The gates (Juyongguan, Xifengkou, Jiayuguan, Shanhaiguan) are the most visited places; sadly, they are altered: the steepest parts are now equipped with flights and some towers are now souvenir-shops. Visiting the Great Wall isn’t really a healthy walk, but rather an assault course, due to the thousands of uneven steps that we must climb up and down, trying to find our way in the middle of the many tourists.
